1. Who we are
Hooked: Catch & Collect is operated by Simplify Ecomm LLC, based in Powell, Tennessee, United States. You can reach us anytime at [email protected] with privacy questions, deletion requests, or general feedback.
2. What we store on your device
All the data the app creates is stored locally in browser storage and IndexedDB on the device where you installed the app. We have no server-side copy. Specifically, the app stores:
- Catch records. Species, weight, length, date and time, optional photo, optional video clip up to 90 seconds, optional location text you typed, weather and moon-phase snapshot, the "Who caught it" tag, the "Released" toggle, and any notes you added.
- Trip records. Trip name (if any), start and end dates, optional location, and the link between catches and the trip they belong to.
- Progress. Total XP, unlocked badges, earned photo bonuses, completed monthly challenges, and certificates awarded.
- Preferences. Your chosen state, sound on or off, last-used angler name, and which view you were on last.
3. What we do NOT collect on our servers
We do not have any server that stores your personal data. Specifically, we have:
- No user accounts
- No logins or passwords
- No analytics or tracking pixels
- No advertising or third-party ad networks
- No behavioral profiling
- No cookies beyond what the browser uses to remember the app is installed
4. What gets sent off your device
Three things, and only when you specifically trigger them:
- Weather lookup. When you log a catch, the device sends the approximate location and date to Open-Meteo (a free weather API) so we can fill in the weather and moon phase on your catch. Open-Meteo states that it does not retain location data.
- Subscription entitlement check. If you subscribe to Hooked Premium via the App Store, Apple processes the payment. We use RevenueCat to verify the subscription is active. RevenueCat receives only an anonymous Apple-generated transaction identifier and the entitlement status. It does NOT receive your Apple ID, email, name, payment details, or any of your catches.
- Feedback you send us. If you tap "Send feedback" and choose Email or Telegram, your message and the app version are sent to us at [email protected]. We use this only to improve the app.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Hooked is available with a 14-day free trial. If you choose to subscribe after the trial, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card number, billing address, or other payment details.
- Apple App Store. Apple processes the payment. Apple provides an anonymous transaction identifier so RevenueCat (our entitlement provider) can confirm your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives only the anonymous transaction ID, not your name or contact information.
- Auto-renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel them through your Apple ID Account Settings before the renewal date. Refunds are handled by Apple under their refund policy.
- Family Sharing. Hooked Premium supports Apple Family Sharing. One purchase can be shared with up to five family members at no extra cost.
6. Children's privacy and parental consent
Hooked is designed to be used by kids with their parent or guardian's permission. We take privacy for young users seriously:
- No accounts, profiles, or sign-up forms are required to use the app.
- No behavioral tracking, advertising, or analytics.
- All catches, photos, and videos are stored on the device only and never uploaded.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from any user, including children under 13.
- Parents can review and delete all local data at any time via Settings, including individual catches in the Log or a full wipe via Settings → Reset everything.
- We do not market this app through third-party advertising networks.

7. What you control
- All your fishing data lives on your device. You can delete individual catches from the Log, delete trips from the Trips tab, or wipe everything via Settings → Reset everything.
- Sharing a catch (trading card, video clip, trip summary) only happens when you specifically tap Share.
- Photos and videos NEVER leave the device unless you share them yourself.
- Certificates are generated on-device and saved locally.
8. Data retention
Because we do not store your data on any server, retention is entirely under your control. Local data on your device is retained until you choose to delete it. Subscription transaction records are retained by Apple, Google, or Stripe (whichever processed the payment) for the period required by their respective policies and applicable law.
9. Security
Local data is protected by your device's standard security model (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or equivalent). For traffic that leaves your device (AI features, weather, payments), we rely on the third-party providers' encryption and security practices, all of which use HTTPS. We do not store any keys or credentials on our servers because we do not operate any servers that touch your data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date. The most current version always lives at this URL. We recommend checking back occasionally if you use the paid plan.
